Stress - Personal finances are a source of stress for many people. PWC’s survey from 2017 discovered that 35% of working adults in the US are reported to have presented with health issues as a result of financial stress. 48% of this cohort reported that during the workday, they would become distracted by their financial situation. This survey highlights that workplace productivity decreases when workers are stressed and distracted by their finances.
Employee expectations are shifting – Employees are now expecting more from their employers. Employees are even prepared to quit their job and move to another company if their needs and well-being will be met there. Employees want to work for companies that they believe genuinely care for their well-being. Younger employees especially are being drawn to companies which foster this type of culture.
Employee retention – The employment market is more competitive than ever with every employer vying for the top talent. A Microsoft survey showed that 41% of 30,000 global workers were considering quitting or changing professions this year. Employers are having to adapt their companies to make them more appealing to current and potential employees.
